Screen Mates

 

  What is a Screen Mate? - Sometimes refereed to as Screen Buddy, Screen Pals, Virtual Pets, Digital Pets or Sprites refers to an lightweight program that creates appearance that an animated character of some kind is wandering around on your desktop or phone sometimes interacting with other elements of the systems GUI. These little fuckers make me totally nostalgic because I had some back on one of my earlier PC's that where running Windows 95.

 

  Some of the more popular or notable Screen Mates were "Orange" (actually and extraterrestrial tangerine) and "Sheepoo",...Screen Mates were also popular among Linux users such as "Tux: Penguins" and "Evil: Little Bill".
